There are few companies that can boast such a history of exhibiting at Italy’s Salone del Mobile Milano as Poland’s Paged Meble. The company, which is famous for its wooden bentwood furniture, will exhibit at the fair for the 42nd time this year. It will present a unique collection of furniture, based on classic designs in a completely new color scheme.
Salone del Mobile Milano is the largest design fair around the world and the most anticipated event in the design industry. The company Paged Meble debuted at the event 70 years ago, back in 1954, and for the next 41 editions set an example not only of extraordinary achievements, but above all – a constant search for new inspiration and setting its own design trends. This spring, in cooperation with a talented Polish designer – Maja Ganszyniec – Paged introduced a new color palette. At the fair, the company will present a collection of furniture based on classic designs in new, refreshed colors. In addition to such designs as the NODO chair by Grzegorz Gancarczyk and ICHO MIO by Nikodem Szpunar, the DRUM coffee table designed by Maja Ganszyniec will be on display:
– Traditional, artisanal woodworking techniques are a rarity these days, so it was all the more delightful to be able to create a piece of furniture just by using human hands. In our project, we wanted to focus on the brand’s signature elements, such as bent wood and rattan weaving – after all, we know many iconic chairs designed using this technique,” says Maja Ganszyniec. – However, a bit perversely, we decided to design coffee tables and thus show how versatile these materials are. In the DRUM family of tables, we proposed two new shapes and sizes that can function separately and together. Both forms are based on the same principle – the wooden top is enclosed in a rounded loop of bend, and the lower shelf, light and openwork, is a natural weaving, stretched on a wooden frame. It is on the proper tension that the quality of the furniture depends, and it is this element, stretched like a drum, that inspired the name.

The stand, designed by Maja Ganszyniec, is distinguished by its modular construction and the use of ecological materials, which is in keeping not only with the ideas close to the designer herself, but also with the company’s multifaceted policy on sustainable development. As Michal Mroz, CEO of Paged, says, it is cooperation with designers and sustainable development that are key elements of the company’s long-range strategy:
– In the next few years, we want to put a strong focus on strengthening our own brand, so we have started working with recognized designers, resulting in a collection based on our classic designs in new looks and new colors. We plan to streamline the company operationally, invest in innovative chair-making technologies and more effectively transfer market and customer knowledge to the company, but in doing so we don’t want to give away our design, skills and unique hand-bent wood technology, which only a few companies in the world can use, to someone else.
